The Filthbusters

The Filthbusters is a group of five high school students, Damanpreet P., Shyam V., Grace O., Christine I., and Yada Z., who are determined to make this world a better place for those who will enter it tomorrow. Babies Want Clean Air! is a project to promote awareness of the detrimental effects of urban pollution on an unborn fetus. This problem is one that is often overlooked, and our goal is to increase people’s attempts to help and decrease this problem through living lifestyle’s friendly to the environment.

Urban pollution, such as the burning of fossil fuels from automobiles, is responsible for the introduction of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the air, thus increasing the chances of genetic mutations in the fetus. Other problems that may arise from this are decrease in the size of the fetus and DNA damage.

This problem can be lessened through the actions of individuals. We encourage all to live lifestyles decreasing the use of automobiles whenever possible, using environmentally-friendly products, etc. This not only will affect the lives of the unborn babies, but also of the current generation.
